The South African PC gaming market just keeps growing

South Africa's desktop PC market may not be showing growth, but the demand for gaming machines is growing. This is according to Lenovo South Africa general manager Thibault Dousson, who said the gaming hardware market has seen a lot of growth locally-and will continue to do so. "There is no question, gaming is going to grow in South Africa," said Dousson.

Gaming's potential for growth stands in contrast to the desktop PC and tablet industries, both of which have shown little growth worldwide of late. ''I don't think desktop demand will disappear, as desktop machine can be robust, cheap, and reliable options for consumers who do not require portability."

Legion's success

Lenovo recently launched it's Legion gaming hardware line up in South Africa, with upgraded versions of the devices arriving later this year. "Interest in gaming devices has been huge in the last six months," said Dousson.

GM INTRODUCED A SELF-DRIVE CAR WITHOUT A STEERING WHEEL

For 110 years, General Motors has been making cars with steering wheels and pedals. But that just changed, when they introduce a self-drive car on 12th January 2018. The carmaker's self-driving arm, cruise Automation, on Friday unveiled the latest version of its autonomous vehicle and the manual controls have been removed. Because the new GM vehicle is fully autonomous, the company says there is no need for manual controls, such as a steering wheel or accelerator and brake pedals. Instead, the car has several interior screens that passengers can use to communicate with the vehicle. The company has filed a petition with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, requesting exemptions from 16 safety standards. Over 30 Caught in Huge Forest Fire at Theni in Tamil Nadu, Air Force called in.

CHENNAI:   thirty-six people, mostly students, were caught in a massive forest fire in Theni distrit of Tamil Nadu on Sunday evening. seven women students have been rescued, they have taken to the Theni hospital. In the group, there were 25 women and 3 children who went on a trek organised by the Chennai Trekking club, the collector said. The group was trapped in forest fire on their way back on Sunday. A MI-17 chopper of the Indian Air Force is already on its way from Sulur, to assess the situation say sources in the defence ministry. On a request from Chief Minister Palanisami, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman instructed the Indian Air Force to help in rescue and evacuation of students. A senior police officer has told NDTV, that 27 students from Chennai has gone for trekking but "they did not take permission from the police or the forest department."
